Our American Host Families

We have a wide range of host families for all around America ready to connect with you. We know that finding the right host family is just as important for the Au Pair as it is for the family which is why we offer mutual matching, you will be fully involved in finding your perfect family! Just as you have Au Pair requirements all of our host families go through a similar screening process. You can be sure that the host families are just as safe, loving and unique as you are!

A Loving Environment

Parents open up their homes to Au Pairs to give their kids safe, loving childcare and a new cultural experience. Our host families are excited to welcome you into their lives.

Lifelong Friends

We often hear stories of host parents going abroad to the weddings of their former Au Pairs, or Au Pair alumni coming back to the USA for a visit when they become parents themselves. The relationships built at AuPairCare last a lifetime.

Family Away From Home

Your host children will see you as an older sibling and your host parents will give you guidance and friendship, just like your own parents.

Matching with a family

Once your profile is complete and your application has been accepted, host families in America will be able to view your profile. All of our host families have completed a criminal background check and had an in person interview.
If a host family thinks that you will be a great fit for them they will reach out to get to know you more. You can speak to many families and we will be on hand to support and prepare you for calls.
When you think you have found the one, both you and your host family must agree to the match. If both parties are happy we can confirm the match and you are off to America! Here is when you can confirm arrival dates and our team will get onto booking your flights!

Au Pair Academy training

The Au Pair academy is mandatory training that will help prepare you for living in America as an Au Pair. It will cover all things related to childcare, CPR and first aid. The learning methods are varied and you will also have an opportunity to mix with other Au Pairs from around the world to get a head start on making new friends!

Support in the USA

Once you arrive at your host family’s home, you will meet your local Area Director, who will support you and your host family for the entire program. Your Area Director will live close to your host family and is there to make sure you are safe and happy. They will be the first person you contact with any questions or issues that arise during your year abroad. Your local Area Director will also organise social events so that you can meet other Au Pairs who live local to you!
